About 500,000 tonnes of high grade enriched material, yielding a reported 16 million ounces of silver, was mined between Jesuit operations in the 17th Century, Mining by L.V. Limited between 1860 and 1910, and sporadic mining by artisan miners.

During the mid-1960’s Cia. Minera Sahuaripa operated a small open pit and underground workings.  They installed a pilot processing plant and produced a concentrate at a rate of mine feed rate of 100 tonnes per day.  This plant remains in place but a thorough inspection and evaluation by a competent metallurgical engineer will be required to evaluate its viability for further on site test work. The pilot testing demonstrated that the Dios Padre material responds well to conventional milling and flotation, yielding a concentrate with 87% recovery of silver and 80% recovery of copper and lead.  Smelter receipts also included credits for gold and zinc, which were not assayed for in the mill feed.
